Caddy’s on the Beach

May 5th, 2008 · No Comments

Back before there were lots of high-rise condos littering the beach, there were mainly just little cottages to stay in and mom-and-pop snack shacks where you would eat. In both instances, you could literally walk from the back door onto the beach. Those places are a rarity now; when you find one, it’s precious. Caddy’s on the Beach (http://caddysonthebeach.com/) is an open-air restaurant and bar right on the beach (9000 W. Gulf Blvd. on Sunset Beach, Florida 33706). Even more miraculous is the fact that they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

You can wander in and out, sun yourself, play volley-ball, splash in the water, then go in for a cool beer or some wings, or even have it brought out to you if you’re near to the restaurant. The food is pretty good, but the setting can not be beat! This is the kind of place where it’s ok to be wearing only a swimsuit and flip-flops (or, as they say in Hawaii, “slippahs”).
