A friend brought me a great gift today: fresh lettuce she picked herself from a plot she maintains in a community garden at the end of her street. Although I, personally, lack the drive for such industry, I’m certainly glad she doesn’t!
Isn’t it great to know where your food comes from? The word, “community,” in that phrase really strikes a resonant chord with me. There’s something “right” about it being grown by real people, not a monolithic corporation in some distant state or country. This salad has got to be fresher than anything on earth.

If you do, you’ll see capers, artichoke hearts, blue cheese dressing, green olives, cheddar cheese cubes, and sardines! Did I leave anything out?

Wow! That looks amazing!
The antipasto looks great. Funny, but I was planning a trip to Mazzaro’s for antipasto items for Christmas Eve, which we will spend with Judy’s folks (aged 89 & 90). But Mom responded with a very tiny and neutral, “Oh … we always had baked stuffed shrimp on Christmas Eve.” So – J&K’s for shrimp and crab (for stuffing).
Best wishes for the holidays.
