Choral sheet music

The following anthems are particularly appropriate for small choirs in that they are either 2-part mixed or chordal SATB. The musical styles are traditional or blended and the texts reflect a progressive theology and always use inclusive language.

Especially in these difficult economic times, the cost of adding to a small church music library can be prohibitive. For that reason, these anthems are offered on a donation basis, payable through PalPal. The suggested donation is only $.50 times the number of photocopies you make of the downloadable DRM free PDF. For instance, if you intended to make 12 copies for your choir, then the total suggested donation would be $6. Considering that published choir music these days averages $1.75 to $2.00 for every copy, that’s a very modest donation.

However…please understand: that is only a suggested donation. Some very small churches won’t be able to afford even that. That’s OK. In that case, don’t worry about it. Just download the file and make the copies you need. For you, the anthems are free. It’s more important to me that you have good music and texts to sing than I make $6.

The Lost words and music by Hilton Kean Jones 2-part mixed An easy, romantic/blended anthem with a strong Celtic feel and an original text based on the three parables of the lost (the shepherd who seeks the sheep that wandered off, the woman who lost her coin, and the prodigal son), with a different twist on the stories–piano or organ accompaniment. The River’s Song words and music by Hilton Kean Jones SATB May be performed a cappella or with voices softly doubled. Some counterpoint but primarily choral and easy to prepare. An excellent anthem for services with ecological themes, it uses the literary device of female personification of the planet–piano or organ accompaniment. Easy to intermediate difficulty. All Bless the Lamb scriptural paraphrase and music by Hilton Kean Jones 2-part mixed A very easy and energetic anthem with a text based on XXX. Works with any size choir, small or large, and with either piano or organ accompaniment; there is an optional treble obligato instrument part.
